Jávea urbanisations locksmith: every hillside, and the towns next door

All of Xàbia, from the old town, the port and the Arenal to every urbanisation on the hills, and the places across the boundary: Benitatxell with Cumbre del Sol, Teulada-Moraira, Gata de Gorgos, La Xara, Jesús Pobre and Dénia.

Inside Xàbia, zone by zone

A municipality of 68.6 km² with three centres and a ring of urbanisations. For each zone: what is built there, and what to say on the phone so the right door is found.

  • The old town

Sant Bertomeu · Plaça de la Constitució · carrer Major · the municipal market · Portal del Clot

Narrow streets inland from the sea, walled until 1874, with tosca-stone doorways, wooden doors and iron grilles on the windows.

On the phone: The street and the nearest landmark: the church, the market or the square. On Thursday mornings the market fills Plaça de la Constitució and the streets beside it, so say if your door is behind the stalls.

  • Duanes de la Mar, the port

the fishing port · the llotja · Loreto church · la Grava · Casa del Cable

The fishermen’s quarter: whitewashed houses with ground floors opening straight onto narrow streets, newer flats behind the harbour, and the bars and shops along the front.

On the phone: The street and whether the door is on the front or a lane behind it. During the July festivities around la Grava the streets near the water fill up: tell us and we park outside them.

  • L’Arenal and Primer Muntanyar

L’Arenal · Bahía de Jávea · Primer Muntanyar

The town’s modern tourist centre around its only sandy beach: apartment blocks, restaurants on the promenade and terraced houses behind them.

On the phone: The name of the block, the portal and the floor. In a complex with several gates, the one nearest your door.

  • Cap Martí, El Tossalet and Pinomar

Cap Martí · El Tossalet · Pinomar · Pinosol

Villa urbanisations on the hills above the bay, many with a garden gate, a front door and a terrace slider.

On the phone: The urbanisation, the street, and the name or number on the gate post. A WhatsApp location pin sent from the gate is the surest way.

  • Cala Blanca, Portitxol and Cap de la Nau

Cala Blanca · Portitxol · la Barraca · Balcón al Mar · Cap de la Nau

Villas on the cliffs and hillsides towards the cape, on winding roads where house numbers are hard to read at night.

On the phone: The road, the house name and the colour of the gate. In summer the road down to the Portitxol cove has a barrier: say if your house is beyond it.

  • La Granadella and Costa Nova

    La Granadella · Costa Nova

Villas in the pine woods above the Granadella cove, reached by a single road.

On the phone: In summer the council controls the road to the cove with a barrier. Tell us your street and whether the house is above or below it, so the trip is planned round it.

  • The Montgó side

Montgó-Toscamar · La Ermita · Les Planes · Molins de la Plana

Villas on the lower slopes of the Montgó and along the road out to the Cap de Sant Antoni lighthouse.

On the phone: The urbanisation and the road you came up. Say if you are nearer the windmills or the town.

  • The inland urbanisations

Adsubia · Tarraula · Lluca · La Corona · Valle del Sol · Rafalet · Covatelles · Toscal · Trencall · Sol del Este · Los Cerezos · Entrepinos · La Mandarina · Tesoro de Jávea

The rest of the urbanisations on the council’s list, from small groups of houses to whole hillsides of villas.

On the phone: The urbanisation, the street and the nearest roundabout or shop you passed on the way in.

Across the boundary

Xàbia borders Dénia, Benitatxell, Teulada and Gata de Gorgos, and the Dénia villages of La Xara and Jesús Pobre. All of them are covered. Pedreguer, Ondara and Benissa are not.

Clear turquoise water over dark rocks in a curving bay, palm trees and white buildings along the shore and a long grey limestone mountain behind
  • El Poble Nou de Benitatxell (Benitachell)

The neighbour to the south, with the Cumbre del Sol urbanisation on its cliffs.

  • Teulada-Moraira

Teulada inland and Moraira on the coast, across Xàbia’s southern boundary.

  • Gata de Gorgos

Inland to the west, on the Gorgos river and on the Ruta dels Riuraus.

  • Jesús Pobre

A village of Dénia on Xàbia’s boundary, also on the Ruta dels Riuraus.

  • La Xara

The other village of Dénia that borders Xàbia.

  • Dénia

On the far side of the Montgó.

Summer barriers, market day and fiestas

Three things change how a trip across the municipality goes. From mid-June the council controls the roads to the Granadella and Portitxol coves with barriers and paid parking (what that means for a house beyond them). On Thursday mornings the weekly market fills Plaça de la Constitució in the old town. And in July the Moros i Cristians are held in Duanes de la Mar.

None of them stops a call-out; they only change the route. Say if one of them applies when you ring, and you will hear an honest estimate of the drive. A door shut on you right now is the emergency service.

Not sure whether your street is covered?

Send the urbanisation name, or a WhatsApp location pin, and you will get a straight answer.
